New Cloud Security Solutions Are Reshaping the Landscape

By David
Security has always been an essential part of cloud services and services that rely on cloud infrastructure. The cloud offers ways to store digital information for an extended period of time, but as we store more information, the need for better security measures and experienced data recovery experts also increases. A number of cloud service providers and SaaS companies are starting to introduce new, better security solutions to meet that very demand.

It is interesting to see these new solutions creating a big impact on the market. They’re not only making the cloud a more secure environment but are also reshaping the industry like never before.

Microsoft’s Take on Cloud Security

Today at NFV World Congress, Cloudify announced that the open-source Cloudify software platform announced last week is already in use by several carriers via an early access program to manage virtual network functions (VNFs) across multiple cloud environments. Cloudify 4 allows carriers to move from VNF concept to production faster and with open source tools.

Cloudify is an open source multi-cloud management software platform. The latest version -Cloudify 4-shipped last week with new features that present a direct threat to legacy cloud management platforms (CMPs) used by enterprises. These legacy CMPs-such as RightScale and CloudForms-are showing their age now that orchestration-first approaches like Cloudify have matured, adding CMP features and enhanced performance in the latest version. Cloudify 4 is available for download here, and more information about The End of Cloud Management is available on the Cloudify community blog.

Working in the Cloud Makes Life Easy – But Coding Makes It Easier Yet

By David
Of late, all we hear about are the many benefits of working in the cloud. We hear that it is cost effective, time efficient, transparent and so many other terms that describe what the cloud is and how we can benefit from cloud computing. All of it true.

However, what we don’t often hear about is the fact that with the advent of PaaS (Platform as a Service) and the integration of other applications into your core platform, there are bound to be some inconsistencies and minor glitches that need to be ironed out before they become major. Working in the cloud has indeed made life easier for the busy professional and businesses all around the globe, but if you know a bit of code, it makes it even easier yet.

From PaaS to iPaaS

Businesses today are really beginning to understand the many benefits of a cloud based ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) platform through which they route most of their business applications. From accessibility to functionality, transparency and beyond, there is nothing like having one central platform that can be accessed, as needed, by everyone in the front and back end of a business.

How Cloud Computing Is Shaping the Business World

By David

Grazed from TGDaily. Author: Lexie Lu.

Cloud computing is defined as using remote servers to store your data outside of a local physical hard drive. You’re basically storing all of your information in a digital “cloud” that can be accessed by you from anywhere in the world, as long as you have a computer and a decent internet connection. How has cloud computing already changed the way we store data — and how is it continuing to shape the business world?

1. Increased Flexibility

Traditional data storage techniques are rigid and require constant hardware updates to keep up with a growing or changing business. If you utilize in-house servers, a bandwidth or storage upgrade requires a large-scale overhaul which could potentially take your entire system offline while it’s being completed…

Aparna Systems Emerges from Stealth Mode to Announce the Industry’s First Open Software “Cloud-in-a-Box” Solution

By David
Grazed from Aparna Systems

Aparna Systems today announced the Orca µCloud and Orca µServer-the industry’s first open software Cloud-in-a-Box solution to converge compute, storage and networking resources in a compact, energy-efficient system. In addition to offering industry-leading high density and scalability, with support for up to 10,000 cores per rack, the µCloud systems deliver the high performance and high availability needed in distributed, edge, aggregation and core environments. The system-level architecture provides an optimal configuration without the need for "rack and stack" engineering, while the use of merchant silicon and open software enables the Cloud-in-a-Box to be used in bare metal, containerized and virtualized applications. Aparna Systems will unveil and demonstrate the Orca µCloud and Orca µServer this week in Booth 41 at NFV World Congress May 3 – 5 at the San Jose Double Tree Hilton.

"Aparna’s Cloud-in-a-Box has the potential to be a real game-changer in a variety of applications," according to Michael Howard, senior research director and advisor for Carrier Networks at IHS Markit. "This is particularly true at the edge of the network, including in central offices, where carriers have struggled to find a practical and affordable way to deploy adequate compute and storage resources. The system’s high density and design innovations combine to also drastically improve scalability and energy efficiency compared to blade servers."
