By David
Grazed from Console Connect

Console Connect, the leading provider of global interconnection solutions, today announced CloudNexus, the world’s first automated cloud-to-cloud direct connection solution for the enterprise. CloudNexus enables private, secure direct connections to be spun up within minutes, between multi- or hybrid-cloud environments, across disparate locations and providers.

Your Clouds, Your Way

The process of cloud migration and workload mobility is painstakingly complex by slow, unsecured and unpredictable public internet connections. By automating the direct connection process, CloudNexus links multiple cloud environments directly and privately within minutes, without any dependencies on the risky public internet or via the enterprise infrastructure. That means painless deployment for flexible cloud architecture, and the ability to deploy as many cloud environments as an enterprise chooses.

How the Cloud Has Advanced Home Security

By David
The latest cloud technologies have changed many areas of our lives. The way homeowners protect their properties is one of the main areas that has advanced greatly thanks to this relatively new technology. Below are some of the main ways the cloud has advanced home security.

Cloud Based Security Systems Are Always Available

The information and footage stored in the cloud is always available. Security video footage and other items can be viewed whenever you wish and you can easily access footage that has been captured in the past on a wide range of devices including smartphones.

This also means you can access your security systems, provided by companies like TBOTECH, from any location in the world. It’s the ideal solution for homeowners who are away from home a lot, when you’re at work or when you’re away on vacation.

UKCloud, the easy to adopt, easy to use and easy to leave assured cloud services company, has this week won the OpenStack Superuser Award at the OpenStack Summit in Boston. UKCloud is this year’s joint winner with Paddy Power Betfair.

The OpenStack Superuser Awards launched in 2014 to recognise organisations that have used OpenStack to meaningfully improve their business while contributing back to the community. Previous winners include multi-billion pound global organisations such as AT&T, CERN, Comcast and NTT Group. UKCloud successfully competes with generalist hyperscale providers by delivering specialist features, such as comprehensive assurance, that are cost-effective and relevant to the UK public sector. The company works closely with a strategic partner, Red Hat, to innovate the OpenStack platform by developing industry-leading security features, including two-factor authentication, secure networking and IP whitelisting. The company’s OpenStack platform is optimised for cloud native applications requiring the elasticity of a genuine public cloud platform coupled with the unique layers of assurance, sovereignty and secure government connectivity inherent to the UKCloud service.

Microsoft’s New Azure Database Offerings Challenge (and Maybe Surpass) AWS Cloud

By David

Grazed from ADTMag. Author: Drew Robb.

In its database offerings, the Microsoft Azure cloud is starting to look a lot more like the Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) cloud. At this week’s Build developer conference, Microsoft made a bunch of cloud-based data announcements, including previews of new Azure database services for PostgreSQL and MySQL. Perhaps not coincidentally, AWS already has similar offerings: Its Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) features PosgreSQL and MySQL as database engine options. AWS also offers a fully managed MySQL-compatible relational database called Amazon Aurora.

It’s another new Azure offering, though, that may see even AWS playing catch-up: Azure Cosmos DB. "Today, we announced Azure Cosmos DB, the first globally distributed, multi-model database service delivering turnkey global distribution with guaranteed uptime and millisecond latency at the 99th percentile," Microsoft exec Scott Guthrie said in a blog post yesterday…

By David

Grazed from Cloudwards. Author: Lavanya Rathnam.

Cloud computing is everywhere today. A majority of businesses, from startups to large corporations, use it in some capacity or another for streamlining their existing processes, data storage, application deployment, hosting, backup and anything else you can think of.  But what exactly is the cloud? Why is it such an integral part of business operations today? The U.S National Institute of Standards and Technology explains that cloud is a model that provides an on-demand access to a shared pool of computing resources. These resources are configurable and can be set up and used with minimal effort.

Benefits of Moving to the Cloud

Put it simply, cloud represents an evolution in IT that guarantees measurable benefits to users and this is why it’s becoming a central aspect in today’s business world. For an idea of its applications as well as those measurable benefits, check out our 30 app ideas for small business article or keep reading…

Oracle Criticizes Amazon Web Services’ Cloud Computing Solutions – Again

By David

Grazed from 1RedDrop. Author: Shudeep Chandraskehar.

The cloud computing wars and the race to add the next client have become so intense that it has reached a stage where tech leaders are taking potshots at each other. Oracle and Amazon have always been at each other’s throats, touting their own excellence and highlighting the other’s failures, and Google’s Diane Greene also took a thinly veiled dig at other cloud service providers at the company’s Cloud Next conference two months ago.

But if you cut through the sound bites and look at what is actually happening, then it will become clear to you that the intensity of the competition is possibly starting to strain a few nerves; more importantly, however, there is a subtle but recognizable shift in the focus areas of the top cloud service providers…
