RapidFire Tools Inc. Launches Unlimited-Use Internal Cyber Security Service Delivery System For MSPs

By David
Grazed from RapidFire Tools, Inc.

RapidFire Tools Inc. has bundled together a powerful new set of tools that, for the first time, allows MSPs to roll-out a high-value, automated and branded internal IT security service that can be offered to all of their clients. The new product, called Detector SDS (Service Delivery System), includes an unlimited-use license for its unique Detector™ cyber security alerting appliance, plus additional new tools that the MSP can use to define the level of service, dynamically build marketing materials to help sell the services they create, and built-in workflow automation to easily manage the cyber security alerts through a common interface. Everything in the system, including the unlimited-use Detector appliance license, is covered by a low monthly subscription.

The Detector SDS solution comes pre-configured with a set of three "white-labeled" cyber security service plans — "Silver," "Gold" and "Platinum." MSPs can deliver these as-is, "out-of-the-box," or modify them to meet the needs of individual clients using the built-in, menu-driven "Service Plan Creator." The pre-configured services, as well as the customized ones, can all be renamed and branded by the MSP. Once the plans are created, the MSP can quickly and easily select one or more plans to present to a client or prospect, and the system will automatically generate a professionally-formatted and branded "Plan Matrix" sales sheet. The Plan Matrix has a column for each service plan, in addition to neatly organized check-boxes that allow the client to easily see the differences in the individual plan features and deliverables. In addition, the system can automatically generate a branded Service Catalog for each Plan Matrix, providing more details about each of the deliverables included with each different level of service.

Businesses can now get instant access to NVIDIA’s deep learning platform from Baidu Cloud. Powered by Pascal architecture-based NVIDIA Tesla P40 GPUs and NVIDIA deep learning software, the new Baidu Cloud offers both training and inference acceleration for open-source deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow and PaddlePaddle.

The new offering aims to help organisations that "need GPU computing to process the massive volumes of data needed for deep learning," said Ian Buck, General Manager of Accelerated Computing at NVIDIA. This will "accelerate [businesses’] deep learning training and inference, resulting in faster time to market for a new generation of intelligent products and applications," added Shiming Yin, Vice President and General Manager of Baidu Cloud Computing…

Cloud Computing: Intel sets up 3-year program with Carnegie Melon to improve IoT video analytics

By David

Grazed from FierceWireless. Author: Monica Alleven.

Intel is collaborating with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) on a $4.125 million research program designed to increase their understanding of visual cloud capabilities given that the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G are going to be driving a whole lot more video experiences in the future.

Visual data is probably the single largest form of data in terms of the amount of bits allocated, and over half of all the mobile data in the world is visual data, mostly video but some images and audio. New types of experiences, such as augmented reality, virtual reality and panoramic video require new capabilities in terms of system architectures and data processing techniques…

Microsoft Surface Windows 10 Cloud Laptop Update: Low Spec Solution Targets Google Chromebook

By David

Grazed from DroidReport. Author: Joseph Patrick.

Microsoft is all set for its upcoming event on May 2, something that could include a Microsoft Surface Windows 10 Cloud laptop. With the focus on software expected, possibly stealing the spotlight is the anticipated mobile solution that could take aim at Google and its Chromebook. The upcoming event was originally pegged to focus on the software and the Microsoft’s efforts to entice people to try out their Windows 10 Cloud.

With the introduction of this cloud computing solution, the end result is the eventual shift to lower cost technology, albeit calling out what Google has done with the Chromebook clan, Forbes reported. The anticipated Microsoft Surface Windows 10 Cloud laptop would thus be something new and not a burden to the budget-centric buyer. Only a handful of updates headlined by the shift to an Intel Kaby Lake chipset could make sense…

Oracle is hiring people for a "new startup organization" inside its North America operation that will focus on key technology trends, including cloud computing, internet of things, artificial Intelligence, and augmented and virtual reality. The Solution Engineering organization the company is setting up will consist of Solution Engineering Centers in Reston, Virginia and Denver, Colorado.

The database and enterprise software company has previously indicated its interest in investing in some of these technology areas like machine learning and analytics. How iPaaS Is Extending Cloud Functionality

By David
Just a few short years ago, the terms ‘cloud’ and ‘cloud computing’ were reserved for an elite few techies who understood the inner workings of cyberspace. Now these have become household words and although most businesses still don’t quite comprehend what it means to work in the cloud, they know that it saves them money and are being told that they can save even more along the line because cloud-based servers are totally scalable.

As more space is needed to integrate various software stored either locally or elsewhere around the web, you can scale up, but if you find that you are not using the space you thought you would require, you can scale down. It’s amazing what you can do with an integration Platform as a Service in terms of functionality, but first, you probably want to know what iPaaS is and what it means to your business.

The war on cloud pricing: Object storage moves into the mainstream

By David

Grazed from ITBrief. Author: Julia Gabel.

The latest analysis on cloud pricing by 451 Research highlights that the cloud price battle field has shifted from virtual machines (VMs) to object storage. And the firm predicts that other services, particularly databases, will undergo the same pricing pressures over the next 18 months. 451 Research says that virtual machines have been the traditional battleground for price cuts as providers seek to gain attention and differentiation.

But now, the tide has turned as object storage pricing declines, including a drop of 14% over the past 12 months. For comparison, the cloud mainstay of virtual machines has dropped a relatively small 5% over the same period. The analysts believe that the move of price cuts beyond compute is due to market maturity. Other factors include increasing cloud-native development and faith in the cloud model, as well as a competitive scrum to capture data migrating out of on-premises infrastructure…
