The private cloud solution is now officially able to integrate with Vblock systems — the combination of Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) networking and server products, EMC (NYSE: EMC) storage and VMware (NYSE: VMW) cloud infrastructure technologies in a single appliance.
Through its Secure Private Cloud Solution, Unisys aims to simplify the automation, provisioning and management of IT resources in a Vblock-based cloud environment. The company already was a VCE systems integrators and Vblock reseller, and so the news here is that its own private cloud products have been Vblock-certified, giving it more visibility in the space VCE has been carving out for itself as a cloud infrastructure provider…
Unisys’s solution was designed to be used as a special-purpose cloud or to be integrated into a hybrid enterprise environment.
Rod Sapp, vice president of Data Center Transformation and Outsourcing Products and Technology, noted of the status: “Unisys adds innovative cloud capabilities to VCE’s powerful Vblock Systems, helping clients better protect their business data, gain on-demand access to IT services and control costs. We complement these capabilities with services to help VCE clients plan their cloud strategy, implement the integrated Unisys-VCE solution quickly and manage it efficiently.”
For Vblock customers, Unisys is positioning itself with additional capabilities, including extra data security in the integrated cloud environment and the ability to monitor and track both physical and virtual cloud resources. The company is also providing customers with advisory, planning and implementation services to get customers up and running on VCE’s Vblock system.
Like many other solutions providers, Unisys has been growing its cloud computing practice. In November of 2011, the company upgraded its Private Cloud Solution with a boost to performance and a simplification of management and monitoring.
Now that it’s officially Vblock Ready, Unisys should find new opportunities related to VCE’s system.
