The decisions your IT team must make when considering Infrastructure-as-a-Service, or IaaS, will affect the future path of your enterprise in regards to success and growth. • IBM: A familiar leader in the overall computing industry, IBM has put a strong focus into the cloud. Its SmartCloud Enterprise and SmartCloud+ not only represent huge investments, but also the framework by which many cloud services are being built upon. More enterprise level offerings and managed services are in the works.
• Amazon: For years, Amazon Web Services has been the option of choice for enterprises and emerging cloud vendors. It is a leader in the public IaaS space, holding a majority share in the market with its EC2 product. A multitude of services are run from the Xen-based virtualized infrastructure employed by the company.
