One of the reasons behind the growing popularity of software-as-a-service solutions is the technology’s ability to make IT procedures simpler to carry out.

This is according to an article published on the IT Web website by RDB Consulting, which noted software-as-a-service can make things easier for end users, as well as maintenance and administration providers.

"Service providers will be able to deliver a simplified offering to the client, providing both the physical database itself as well as the support needed for the infrastructure, so end-users will need to deal with only one provider," the organisation said.

It added that the technology is here to stay, as it also offers users cost savings and ease of use.

Last month, Justin Aucoin, associate site editor of the Search Business Analytics website, said the growing acceptance of software-as-a-service solutions over the course of 2010 was one of the key trends for the IT industry to take note of during the year.
