SIOS Technology to Speak at PASS Summit 2019 about How to Survive the Next Azure Outage

November 1, 2019 Off By David

SIOS Technology Corp., an industry pioneer in providing IT Resilience through intelligent application availability, today announced that Microsoft Cloud and Cluster MVP and SIOS Technical Evangelist Dave Bermingham will speak about how to survive the next Microsoft Azure outage at PASS Summit 2019 November 8th at 9:30 AM in Seattle, WA at the Washington State Trade Center. SIOS will also showcase its high availability software in booth #517 during the three-day event November 6-8.

On Sept. 4th, 2018, a severe lightning storm in the San Antonio area not only disrupted the power supply to Microsoft Azure’s data center in the region, it knocked the cooling systems offline, damaging “a significant amount” of equipment. Many DBAs discovered their SQL Server instances located in Azure’s South Central Region were running without an adequate business continuity plan in place. Titled, “Surviving the Next Azure Outage Like a Boss,” Dave will share what caused the Azure outage and what Microsoft is doing to ensure that type of outage never happens again. Armed with that knowledge, SQL Server HA and DR solutions, along with Azure Site Recovery, Availability Zones, Fault Domains, and more will be examined to determine which configurations will survive the next Azure outage.

The SIOS Exhibit

In booth #517, SIOS will showcase its products that protect and optimize SQL Server and other business critical applications. SIOS will demonstrate SIOS DataKeeper Cluster Edition software, an ingredient that integrates seamlessly with Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) to provide SANLess cluster protection where shared storage clusters are either impossible or impractical, such as cloud, virtual and high performance storage environments.
