Riverbed Technology, the IT performance company, today announced its participation at Interop New York taking place October 3 – 7, 2011 in New York, NY. At the conference, Riverbed(R) (booth #409) will showcase its hybrid cloud performance solutions, which help globally-connected enterprises to consolidate IT infrastructure and reduce costs while increasing employee collaboration and productivity. Riverbed executives and a Riverbed customer will also participate in panel discussions to weigh in on issues that are challenging today’s distributed enterprises, including issues relating to hybrid cloud computing and network management…

At the five-day event, industry thought leaders, vendors, and networking and storage professionals join to learn about and discuss the industry’s most compelling topics, including virtualization, mobility, cloud computing and data center advances, while at the same time learn how to leverage new technologies to increase productivity and improve collaboration within the enterprise.

Riverbed transforms IT performance by providing solutions spanning wide area network (WAN) optimization, application-aware network performance management (NPM), application delivery controller (ADC), web content optimization (WCO), and cloud data protection for backup, archive and disaster recovery. Conference-goers can visit booth #409 to learn about the Riverbed product families.

More than 13,000 organizations worldwide, across a wide range of markets, depend on Riverbed to understand, optimize and consolidate their IT infrastructure. Riverbed delivers hardware, software and virtualized solutions that overcome performance issues caused by distance, distributed computing, and ever increasing amounts of data. Virtualization, consolidation and cloud computing promise huge cost savings and improved efficiencies, but as users move farther from their data, slow applications and file transfers can stall these strategic initiatives. Riverbed delivers to the remote office and mobile workers the same "local area network (LAN)-like" performance, no matter where the private data center or public cloud may be. Riverbed continues building on its success in the wide area network (WAN) optimization, application-aware network performance management (NPM) and data protection markets with new and innovative solutions for accelerating cloud storage and access to applications and data deployed in public, private and hybrid clouds.

In addition to visiting the booth, conference-goers can find Riverbed and its customer presenting and participating in panel discussions at the CIO Bootcamp, Enterprise Cloud Summit, and Interop Cloud & Virtualization Conference.

What: "Becoming a Highly Valued CIO: How engaged are you in the business?" Who: David Goodman, chief technology officer, International Rescue Committee When: Tuesday, October 4, 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM Where: Javits Convention Center, CIO Boot Camp, Room 1E12

The International Rescue Committee, a non-profit that focuses on refugee issues, has 10,000 staff members located in over 40 countries throughout the world. In places like Africa, where satellite-based communication is the only way to go, IT was a far from reliable and dependable resource. In order to overcome communication, collaboration and productivity challenges due to low-bandwidth, high-latency environments, CTO David Goodman deployed Riverbed WAN optimization solutions. In this session, David will discuss how WAN optimization has enabled his organization to decrease bandwidth requirements of key applications, reduce WAN costs and increase productivity.

What: Enterprise Cloud Summit: Optimizing Hybrid Cloud Communication

Who: Mark Day, chief scientist, Riverbed When: Monday, October 3, 3:25 PM – 3:55 PM Where: Javits Convention Center, Cloud Workshop, Room 1E11 It’s unlikely that clouds are an all-or-nothing affair, at least in the short term. Companies will blend on-premise and on-demand clouds into what some call a hybrid model, combining the control of machines you own with the flexibility of those you merely rent. But a distributed architecture has its own problems — particularly reliability. In this panel, attendees will learn about the challenges of a "stretched cloud" and how technology can help mitigate performance issues when workloads happen at a distance.

What: Interop Cloud & Virtualization Zone: "High Performance for the Hybrid Cloud" Who: Nik Rouda, director of solutions marketing, Riverbed When: Wednesday, October 5, 11:25 AM – 11:45 AM Where: Javits Convention Center, Cloud Zone Theater, Booth #900 In this session, Nik will discuss how organizations can optimize data transfer and application performance, discover crucial interdependencies of systems to be migrated, gain clear visibility into network constraints, and enable easy integration of remote IT resources internal or external to the enterprise.

What: Panel Discussion: "Great Debates: Is This the End of Physical Appliances?" Who: Mark Day, chief scientist, Riverbed When: Thursday, October 6, 10:30 AM – 11:20 AM Where: Javits Convention Center, Room 1E08 For well over a decade most IT infrastructures have relied on physical appliances, including physical routers, WAN optimization controllers (WOCs) and application delivery controllers (ADCs). However, over the last few years, an increasing number of virtualized appliances have entered the marketplace. These appliances have the potential to dramatically lower costs and dramatically increase agility. In this panel session, Mark will participate in a debate on the need for hardware and the environments for which physical appliances are best suited.

What: Panel Discussion: "Network Management: Which Direction to Take?" Who: Loris Degioanni, senior director of technology, Riverbed When: Friday, October 7, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM Where: Javits Convention Center, Room 1E15 There are many choices facing network managers when choosing tools and techniques for planning and operating today’s networks. Best-of-breed or integrated suite? NetFlow or packet monitoring? Local or SaaS? Proactive or reactive? Internal or MSP? And the stakes could not be higher — networks are returning to prominence as a critical infrastructure, and expectations for reliability and sustained performance are ratcheting upward. In this session, Jim Frey of Enterprise Management Associates will drive a lively session amongst management technology leaders who will look at the pros and cons of some of the major decision points when selecting management approaches and strategies.
