N2WS, a Veeam company, introduces Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) snapshot decoupling and the N2WS-enabled Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) repository. With the release of N2WS version 2.4, customers can reduce storage costs by up to 40 percent. The release of N2WS Backup & Recovery v2.4 allows Amazon Web Services (AWS) users to choose from different storage tiers and reduce costs for data being retained for longer terms.

"We are excited that N2WS is introducing snapshot decoupling into the Amazon S3 repository. This will help us to drastically reduce our storage costs," said Jamie MacDonald, head of platform and security at ZoneFox. "We manage over 700 snapshots with varying life cycling requirements, so this integration allows us to increase our backup retention period while paying less."

Enterprises can experience significant costs savings with backup lifecycle management and the ability to move snapshots to an N2WS-enabled Amazon S3 repository. Companies archiving data for compliance can also benefit from a cost-effective approach for long-term data retention on AWS. For Managed Service Providers (MSPs), N2WS v2.4 provides an opportunity to lower storage costs for their clients while improving overall levels of service delivery through effective data management.

N2WS Backup & Recovery version 2.4 includes the following new enhancements:

  • Reduced Long-Term Retention and Archival Costs: Meet compliance requirements by retaining critical data in a lower-cost storage tier; streamline AWS data management and enhance cloud mobility.
  • VPC Capture and Clone: Capture VPC settings such as subnets, security groups and route tables, and clone to other regions, eliminating the need for manual configuration during the disaster recovery processes, reducing the risk of error and saving employees’ valuable time.
  • Enhanced RESTful API: Automate backup and recovery for business-critical data.

"With the latest release of version 2.4, we bring a variety of innovative backup and recovery capabilities to customers. These unique new capabilities provide enterprises with enhanced automation, usability, and scalability in data protection for their deployments on AWS. Our ‘save to Amazon S3 repository’ can lower backup associated storage costs by as much as 40 percent," said Uri Wolloch, CTO of N2WS. "It’s a customer’s responsibility to ensure they secure data in their environment, but they need a way to realize greater efficiencies as they grow their AWS deployments."

"Our customers want solutions built on AWS which are designed to take full advantage of the cloud and are easy to provision," said Dave McCann, Vice President, AWS Marketplace, Service Catalog and Migration Services, Amazon Web Services, Inc. "We’re delighted that N2WS has extended their offerings to reach out to 190,000 AWS Marketplace customers. Customers now have more flexibility in storing their backups for different retention periods, and with AWS Marketplace private offers, they can also combine new functionality with the best price available and all integrated into the AWS Billing System."
