Dolphin announced its Content Archive Service (CAS) for Cloud 2.0 has achieved SAP certification as powered by the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform. The solution has been proven to integrate with SAP® solutions, providing users access to cloud services as a repository to the SAP ArchiveLink® software. The cloud solution is SAP-certified for archived SAP data and documents and does not require any new on-premise infrastructure…

The SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) has certified that Content Archive Service for Cloud 2.0 integrates with the SAP ERP 6.0 application via the ABAP™ add-on 7.0 integration scenario.

In addition, Dolphin CAS for Cloud 2.0 has achieved “SAP Solution Manager Ready” status.

Dolphin’s interface approach leverages SAP NetWeaver’s built-in secured communication capabilities to connect to cloud storage platforms, such as AT&T Synaptic, Amazon S3, Google Storage Cloud and others. This allows Dolphin to offer a very lean server architecture based on SAP ArchiveLink that requires no additional infrastructure component and fits right into the SAP landscape as an ABAP add-on. As a direct connection to the cloud, it offers superior implementation and speed compared to classic file system-based cloud connection options, where content is streamed through an intermediate file system requiring temporary local storage, yielding slower performance. More importantly, Dolphin CAS for Cloud 2.0 offers byte/offset-based access to archived content that is critical for data and printlist archiving, which is not available in file system-based cloud connections. Elimination of any new on-premise infrastructure requirement for the connector means this solution can be up and running in less than a day.

Cloud services offer dramatic operational cost savings while maintaining seamless access to data and documents. Adding the cloud storage tier to the storage strategy frees organizations to invest in high-performance access for frequently used data while shifting seldom-used data to a lower cost and infinitely elastic cloud storage service.

With data storage and archiving needs constantly rising, cloud-based offerings are a cost effective alternative to continued expansion of in-house infrastructure or relief from existing software and systems that have reached their cost-effectiveness limits. This further enables IT to align the business value of the data with the cost of storage, without the overhead of added complexity to the IT environment or additional capital expenditure.

As Dolphin CAS for Cloud 2.0 supports SAP ArchiveLink, all existing applications that use SAP ArchiveLink for structured and unstructured content storage can now use cloud services for operations such as the following:

  • Outbound document archiving, e.g., SAP billing output
  •

  • Inbound document archiving, e.g., inbound AP invoices
  •

  • SAP printlist archiving
  •

  • SAP data archiving
  •

  • DART file archiving
  •

  • KPro based content storage, e.g., document management and office capabilities in SAP ERP

“In addition to the lean, on-premise storage option, the advent of cloud computing and recent improvements in stability, performance and bandwidth coupled with practically unlimited elasticity of the cloud has presented us with a great opportunity to tap into the cloud as a viable tier for use with SAP data and document archiving,” according to Vishal Awasthi, CTO at Dolphin.
