Cloud computing can make a variety of computing services available to companies of all sizes on an ‘as-need’ basis. It allows cloud providers to offer a range of physical resources, such as processors, data storage, applications, and platform access for developers. The result is that smaller companies can eliminate the need for physical hardware as well as the expenditures it entails.

In turn, companies receive access to massive computing and storage resources, then pay only for pro-rated computing services and usage. With that goal in mind, an increasing number of companies are also creating their own private clouds. Into this arena comes CA Technologies (NewsAlert) with its latest offering: CA Private Cloud Accelerator for Vblock…

Vblock, from the Virtual Computing Environment company (VCE), is a rack of equipment that includes Cisco Nexus data center switches, MDS switches, and UCS servers being run by VMWare software (Vsphere). Storage solutions are handled by EMC (News Alert) hardware in the rack and all these components together constitute an extensible private cloud platform.

The CA Private Cloud Accelerator represents a partnership between CA and VCE to realize the benefits of virtualization and the cloud. The benefits of a private cloud over a public cloud are that it simplifies and automates data center infrastructure, and enables rapid provisioning and performance predictability.

By implementing private cloud architectures, companies can keep data secure, increase capacity and productivity, and achieve IT automation while controlling all aspects of performance. According to Adam Famularo (NewsAlert), general manager of Enterprise and Cloud Solutions, CA Technologies, “CA Private Cloud Accelerator for Vblock Platforms can help enterprises and managed service providers (MSPs) rapidly deliver services in a private cloud environment, maximizing their investment in VCE Vblock Platforms and driving business service innovation to deliver speed, performance and improved cost efficiencies.”

The CA Private Cloud Accelerator for Vblock Platforms leverages CA Process Automation and CA Service Catalog to provide customers with a single, unified view and point of control across virtual and private cloud resources.
