Cloud Computing: Lockheed Martin, TechAmerica Foundation and Others Collaborate to Help Government

For the U.S. government adoption of cloud computing, Lockheed Martin said it collaborated with the TechAmerica Foundation and others to develop a road map.   Together with 70 other commissioners working over a period of three months, Lockheed Martin and the group collaborated on four areas of the report pertaining to Trust, Transformation, Transparency and Transnational Data Flow, UPI.com reports…

The TechAmerica Foundation Report from the Commission on the Leadership Opportunity in U.S. Deployment of the Cloud2 clearly illustrates a path and guidance for next steps to move the U.S. government to the cloud and to keep the United States at the forefront of innovation.   "While Lockheed Martin’s key areas of focus in the report pertained to cybersecurity innovation and acquisition, all areas were of equal importance as they address the affordability and security needs of our customers at a time when cloud computing holds great promise," said Rick Johnson, vice president and chief technology officer, Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Solutions.   In a recent research study conducted by the Lockheed Martin Cyber Security Alliance and Market Connections, Inc., security remains the single biggest concern on the minds of government information technology decision-makers when it comes to cloud computing.   Despite the concerns, 50 percent of those asked said they are considering cloud applications for their agencies.
