Customers are increasingly faced with the challenge of scaling their OpenStack deployments and are looking for production-grade infrastructure that supports the demands of their business. Today, Citrix is unveiling the integration and certification of its market-leading application delivery controller, NetScaler, with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform. For the first time, customers can now assemble their cloud infrastructure using best of breed components from Citrix and Red Hat. The joint solution provides customers with access to a broader portfolio of products to further boost the performance and scale provided by Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform deployments.

NetScaler is used as core infrastructure for some of the largest cloud providers in the world, and this announcement brings the power of comprehensive networking infrastructure solutions to customers choosing to build their clouds on OpenStack. Earlier this year, Citrix joined the Open Stack Foundation with a view towards supporting industry and customer initiatives in building highly scalable public and private clouds. As customers drive towards building fully-integrated, “lights-out” datacenters with minimal manual configuration and intervention, this integration provides them with fully automated control over services through a single control point – the newly available NetScaler Control Center.

Akanda, the major contributor and supporter of the recently launched OpenStack Project Astara, today announced Astara’s Liberty release at OpenStack Summit Tokyo. The new version now available to OpenStack operators is the open source network orchestration platform’s most substantial since its initial launch, and is Astara’s first since becoming an official OpenStack project.

Astara’s Liberty release gives OpenStack operators a vendor-agnostic network orchestration platform for layer 3 through 7 network services that radically simplifies the complexity and scale of Neutron implementations. The production-proven OpenStack project fully negates the need for multiple plugins and SDN controllers. By orchestrating network functions from different providers on bare metal, VMs, and containers, Astara provides unprecedented flexibility, agility, and stability to OpenStack cloud developers and service providers.

Red Hat, Inc., the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that Dualtec Cloud Builders, part of the UOLDiveo group, has scaled its cloud environment and expanded its service offerings with a new Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform. Working with Red Hat to design and deploy its integrated, OpenStack-based cloud environment in just 45 days, Dualtec has improved operational efficiency by 35 percent. Dualtec’s deployment represents the first OpenStack-based public cloud in Brazil, following Dualtec’s active participation in the upstream OpenStack community since 2011.

Dualtec originally launched as a telecommunication and Internet solutions provider for small and medium-sized businesses in Brazil. With more than 11,000 clients, Dualtec is a cloud computing pioneer in Brazil, understanding that an integrated environment for managing its cloud computing infrastructure efficiently would be critical to enabling the company to scale and grow without increasing operating or other costs. Believing that OpenStack is the best solution for the cloud, Dualtec decided to launch the first OpenStack-based cloud in Brazil, adopting the open source cloud operating system to control compute, storage, and networking resources. But, Dualtec had an aggressive goal to launch their new OpenStack cloud environment within 45 days – a timeline that included everything from designing the architecture to deployment.

If there’s a defining characteristic of business in this millennium, it’s that failure comes faster. Think about the shift from VHS and DVDs to on-demand content streaming services, and the impact this had on retail stores. Giants in the industry stumble when they fail to innovate and the inability to adapt quickly to the changing technology landscape, the on-demand economy and consumer behavior can be catastrophic.

However, businesses in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) are starting to take notice and understand the importance IT plays in innovation. In fact, according to HP, New Style of Business Survey, 2015, 54 percent of firms in APJ now view their IT teams to be at the heart of their business and believe IT is fundamental to their success…
