dinCloud’s New Virtual Robot Improves Quality Assurance and Customer Experience in SAP, Salesforce, Sage, and Microsoft Dynamics

By David
Grazed from dinCloud

dinCloud today announced the availability of a full-service virtual robot. Dubbed "James", the virtual robot runs in the cloud, as a service, and requires no coding or configuration by customers. James will help organizations deliver a better customer experience to employees and customers.

James is tasked with testing and documenting the performance and availability of services that are important to an organization. For example, James can validate the customer experience on an e-commerce site, the payroll calculation process in an organization’s ERP software, or other critical services. James can test the user experience 24/7 on systems such as SAP, Salesforce, Sage, and Microsoft Dynamics.

Traditional methods used today, such as monitoring tools, have a system-level perspective. dinCloud’s virtual robot service sees through the eyes of the user. It can also be rolled out in less time than it takes to onboard a new employee. Additionally, all setup, configuration, changes, and maintenance are performed by dinCloud. Customers have a dashboard for reviewing performance real-time and also receive alerts via email or text based on thresholds that dinCloud helps users establish.

Cloud Computing: Getting Hyperconverged On Power Systems

By David

Grazed from ITJungle. Author: Prickett Morgan.

A few weeks ago, when pondering the possibilities of how Big Blue might reimagine and reinvigorate the IBM i platform, we outlined how this might be done – and how it might apply to a much broader customer base after it was done – in an article called The Cognitive Systems/500 2018 Edition. We forgot one of the possible components of a modern, integrated system and, amusingly, IBM has just announced support for it.

The bit of the software stack we forgot to mention was what is called hyperconverged infrastructure, or HCI for short, and this server-storage halfblood has become the underpinning of virtualized infrastructure at private datacenters for a number of key workloads and by thousands of organizations worldwide…

Cloud Computing: In an era of relentless data breaches, IBM focuses new mainframe on ‘pervasive’ encryption

By David

IBM will debut the newest in its decades-long series of mainframe computers for mainstream transaction processing Monday, this time focusing in particular on better protection of more data wherever it resides. The IBM Z features what the company calls “pervasive encryption,” providing the ability to encrypt all data in an application, database or cloud service.

Computer hardware in general and large mainframe-style computers have taken a big hit in the dawning era of cloud computing. But most large transaction systems such as credit-card processing, airline flight purchases and automatic teller machine systems still run on them. IBM said the Z represents the “most significant system overhaul” in more than 15 years…

AWS Announces G3 Instances for Amazon EC2

By David
Grazed from Amazon Web Services, Inc.

Today, Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company, announced the availability of G3 instances, the next generation of GPU-powered Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances designed to make it easy to procure a powerful combination of central processing (CPU) and random-access memory (RAM) for workloads such as 3D rendering, 3D visualizations, graphics-intensive remote workstations, video encoding, and virtual reality applications. Backed by NVIDIA Tesla M60 GPUs, G3 instances offer double the CPU power per GPU, and double the host memory per GPU, than the most powerful GPU cloud instance available today. To get started with G3 instances, visit https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/.

Customers running complex modeling and 3D visualization analyses, such as medical image processing, computer-aided design, and seismic visualization jobs, require significant CPU processing power and memory. To offer the best performance for these graphics-intensive applications, the largest G3 instance offers twice the CPU power and eight times the host memory of the previous generation graphics instance (G2). The g3.16xlarge features four NVIDIA Tesla M60 GPUs with 64 CPUs using the latest custom Intel Xeon E5-2686v4 (Broadwell) processors, 488 GB of RAM, and Enhanced Networking using the Amazon EC2 Elastic Network Adaptor. The G3 instance also features two Amazon EC2 "firsts" to speed video frame processing and improve image fidelity for graphics workloads: support for NVIDIA GRID Virtual Workstation capabilities, including the ability to support four monitors with resolutions of up to 4K (4096 x 2160), and hardware encoding to support up to 10 H.265 (HEVC) 1080p30 streams per GPU.
