Cloud News, Resources and Information
Cloud Foundry usage continues to accelerate across the globe, with broad deployments proliferating across enterprises within every industry, according to the semi-annual User Survey released today by the Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the most widely- adopted open source cloud technologies in the world, at its North American Cloud Foundry Summit in Boston. The study revealed the continued increase in popularity of Cloud Foundry among developers and steady growth in adoption, especially across large organizations, thanks to its cost cutting and time savings.
According to the survey, enterprises in every industry and across the world use Cloud Foundry Application Runtime to develop, deploy and manage their cloud-native applications — and they’re deploying Cloud Foundry more broadly across their companies than ever before. Nearly a third (30 percent) of user respondents describes their Cloud Foundry use as "broad" — either rolling out or fully integrated across the whole company.
Since the 2017 User Survey was published in October, there has been a twelve point increase in adoption (both broad and limited). It’s therefore unsurprising that most companies responding to the survey are relatively new to Cloud Foundry, indicating sustained momentum in Cloud Foundry adoption. Time and again, evaluation of the technology leads to adoption.
Tripwire, Inc., a leading global provider of security and compliance solutions for enterprises and industrial organizations, today announced expanded support for cloud environments with Tripwire Cloud Management Assessor (CMA). The solution now features File Integrity Monitoring (FIM) capabilities for addressing publicly exposed data in the cloud, and its core secure configuration management functionality now supports all major cloud providers, including Google Cloud Platform.
"Tripwire is dedicated to helping organizations implement critical security controls in their environments, especially as these environments grow more complex with the adoption of hybrid and multicloud models," said Tim Erlin, vice president of product management and strategy at Tripwire. "We’ve expanded our capabilities to help organizations keep their cloud environments properly configured and prevent inadvertent exposure of their data."
DataStax, powering the Right-Now Enterprise with the always-on, distributed cloud database built on Apache Cassandra, today announced the immediate availability of DataStax Enterprise 6 (DSE 6).
DSE 6 allows customers to maintain hybrid cloud flexibility with all the benefits of a distributed cloud database on any public cloud or on-premises. DSE 6 includes all the advantages of Apache Cassandra and much more with none of the complexities, delivering easy enterprise-wide adoption at scale. DSE 6 builds on its already superior performance for both reads and writes, which is critical for high-volume data ingestion requirements. Double the performance of Apache Cassandra, DSE 6 delivers twice the responsiveness and the ability to handle twice the throughput on the same infrastructure.
"Our enterprise customers are under intense pressure to bring the value of their data to new levels, and this release makes building and delivering transformative applications faster, easier, and more secure," said Billy Bosworth, CEO of DataStax. "The fact that we deliver this power in an architecture that accelerates hybrid-cloud initiatives is doubly beneficial."
To support companies moving to a cloud architecture, today, Kaspersky Lab has launched its new Kaspersky Hybrid Cloud Security offering, expanding the company’s virtualization and cloud security portfolio. The new solution is the next generation of hybrid cloud protection for businesses of all sizes, integrated with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
Organizations that struggle to deal with the speed of business process automation and growth of corporate data are turning to the hybrid cloud to expand their infrastructure. At the same time, more than half (59%) of businesses feel they cannot fully trust its data to cloud services because it could introduce new risks to their IT security. Their concerns are authentic with the lack of visibility in hybrid cloud ecosystems today – making them even more vulnerable to cyberattacks.
Take a look at some of the areas you should be focusing on to give you a slice of the pie in search engines.

Akamai Technologies today announced the availability of the State of the Internet / Security: Carrier Insights Report for Spring 2018, which shows that sharing information is an important factor in helping to defend against cyber threats. The report analyzes data from more than 14 trillion DNS queries collected by Akamai between September 2017 and February 2018 from communications service provider (CSP) networks around the world.
For more than 19 years, Nominum, acquired by Akamai in 2017, has leveraged in-depth DNS data to improve overall protection against sophisticated cyberattacks such as distributed denial of service (DDoS), ransomware, trojans, and botnets. Akamai’s Carrier Insight Report builds upon the Nominum expertise and highlights the effectiveness of DNS-based security that is enriched with data coming from other security layers. This layered security approach involves gathering various security solutions to collectively protect an organization’s data.
"Siloed understanding of attacks against individual systems isn’t enough for defenders to prepare for today’s complicated threat landscape," said Yuriy Yuzifovich, Director of Data Science, Threat Intelligence, Akamai. "Communicating with varying platforms is critical when acquiring knowledge across teams, systems and data sets. We believe that the DNS queries that our service provides act as a strategic component to arming security teams with the proper data necessary for that big picture view of the threat landscape."
"InfiniBand connectivity combined with the full potential of flash as delivered by E8 Storage is an almost unstoppable partnership in terms of speed, low latency and scalability. Together, this makes E8 Storage and Mellanox a powerful combination for data center implementations and for databases that drive financial trading systems, real-time data analytics, and healthcare applications," commented Scott Sinclair, senior analyst at ESG.
The move comes as a direct response to HPC customers that wish to take advantage of the high speed, low latency throughput of InfiniBand for their data hungry applications. The announcement also strengthens E8 Storage’s long-standing technology partnership with Mellanox that originally enabled the integration of E8 Storage’s rack scale flash architecture with selected Mellanox adapters.
