Equinix and Tier 3 join to enhance cloud computing for enterprises

Cloud Computing: CiRBA Secures $15 Million to Fuel Growth

CiRBA Inc. on Tuesday announced it has raised $15 million in its third round of institutional funding led by Tandem Expansion Fund.  Existing investors Sigma Partners and Edgestone Capital Partners also participated in the deal. The growth round of financing follows a series of enterprise-wide sales to some of the largest financial institutions in the world. These enterprise customers helped CiRBA achieve record software bookings in 2011.

We love new technology, whether in the form of software or devices, though planning, strategy, and architecture aren’t as universally adored. But if you don’t understand both, you can count on huge project disasters as you move into the cloud. Unfortunately, far too many in IT are blindly in love with technology, especially as they consider the new-to-them cloud. I see this problem every day, so please heed this friendly warning.

At a roundtable event in Sydney today hosted by four technology vendors – Eaton Corporation. Kroll Ontrack, WatchGuard and Tecala – warned that without proper technology plumbing companies could be achieving short-term financial benefits, while putting themselves at risk in the future.
