What is the hottest cloud-computing market in the Asia-Pacific region? This is the question on the top of the minds of many CIO, CFO, CTO and cloud vendors. It is often accompanied by the follow-up question: where is the most revenue being generated? Seemingly, the answer to the second question will satisfy the first.

At first glance, this assumption seems harmless and an acceptable method to determine where APAC’s cloud-computing market is taking off with the greatest confidence. However, this type of ‘revenue first’ analysis can be detrimental for anyone making decisions based on the experiences of the countries that lead our region’s cloud computing. This is because it largely ignores the critical activity within each country that will ultimately determine the cloud winners and losers…

With enterprises steadily expanding their cloud computing deployments, traditional Fibre Channel storage architectures are falling out of step with the elastic, scalable requirements that cloud and big data applications demand, according to Coraid, a startup specializing in alternative storage arrays.

Coraid’s pitch is to pair commodity hardware and Ethernet with its own software to create an Ethernet SAN storage array it calls EtherDrive, for which it touts significant price savings and performance improvements over legacy storage.

LenderMobile, a provider of mobile mortgage loan applications for iPads, has added two new features to its LenderMobile+ flagship app in response to users’ requests. The new imaging feature lets loan originators and borrowers take photos of documents with the iPad camera and add the images to loan files through cloud computing technology. Plus, the new loan notes feature lets users add notes to a loan file directly from their iPad.

On the iPad screen, loan originators can click the new photo button of the LenderMobile+ app to take pictures of documents for a loan file, such as W-2 forms, tax returns, paystubs and drivers licenses, and do so from anywhere, from a borrower’s home to the local coffee house. Or users can choose from the iPad app’s library of photos to add to a loan file. This feature gives users the option of cancelling photos, so they can re-take photos of documents if not satisfied with the original ones…
