ATEN and US Micro Showcasing Cloud Computing Solution at Cloud Fair 2012
April 18, 2012ATEN today announced that it is exhibiting and showcasing new cloud technology at this week’s Cloud Fair 2012 with partner US Micro, Inc., a WA-based manufacturer of innovative computing solutions. Cloud Fair is held from April 17-19, 2012 in Seattle, WA where ATEN and US Micro are demonstrating a new hardware-based cloud computing solution at booth #9. Available now, CriKit (Cloud Resource and Infrastructure Kit), is a compact and energy-efficient, multi-node desktop cloud computing solution.
Custom developed by US Micro, the CriKit solution is comprised of several hardware components: powerful micro-servers, Networked Attached Storage, a 1GB Ethernet switch, a 19" LED monitor, keyboard, optical mouse and finally, ATEN’s CS1768 — an eight-port DVI/USB KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) switch. CriKit was developed to provide unique business value for a variety of applications such as software development, software test and quality assurance, training, demonstration and education. Since it employs generic Intel x86 computing platforms that run all major hypervisors and operating systems, it can be used across industries on a wide variety of applications…
Carefully selected by US Micro, the CS1768 is a control unit that allows access and control of up to eight computers from a single USB keyboard, USB mouse, and dual-monitor (DVI-I and VGA) console. It can be cascaded to three levels – allowing up to 73 CS1768s to control up to 512 computers – all from the original single console.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to meet with Cloud Fair attendees and showcase our new CriKit solution which provides significant business value due to its compact design, energy efficiency and cloud capabilities,” explained Paul Morse, Director of Cloud Systems at US Micro. “ATEN has been a tremendous partner to work with and we’re excited to include the company’s CS1768 KVM switch in our CriKit Desktop Cloud solution.”
Cloud Fair 2012 is the only conference focused on reducing the complexity of cloud computing while ensuring security and cost-effectiveness for developers and businesses. Cloud Fair offers three days of workshops, tutorials, keynotes and breakout sessions, all focused on giving business and technical leadership the information and resources they need to map out a migration path to cloud that fits their unique circumstances.
“Through our partnership with US Micro and inclusion in its CriKit solution, we’ve firmly planted our feet in the cloud computing space,” said James Hsieh, ATEN CEO. “We were proud to have our CS1768 KVM switch hand-picked by US Micro from a highly competitive field of vendors. This is a true testament to the reliability and quality of our KVM switches.”
At Cloud Fair 2012, Paul Morse will be presenting "Building a Private or Hybrid Cloud on your Desk with Micro-Server Technology" on Thursday, April 19 from 4:00-4:45pm.
