Holy Cross is a private liberal arts college located in Worcester, Massachusetts. With more than 2800 students, the college supports 400+ servers – both physical and virtual – encompassing several different operating systems. When their existing data protection product was discontinued, they evaluated nearly a dozen vendors, looking to determine which vendors could meet their evolving infrastructure needs and accommodate ongoing change within the backup industry. High on the list of “must haves” were robust functionality, flexibility, scalability, ease of deployment, and ease of use.
With many essential applications and a variety of operating systems, they were looking to simplify protecting and archiving their data, and expand their use of the public cloud for to increase flexibility and obtain cost-efficiencies.
This webinar details how the College of the Holy Cross evaluated and adopted Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) as a replacement for the tape that was being used for long-term retention of infrequently accessed data, while looking to Commvault for ways in which to protect their data, both on-prem and in the AWS cloud.
