A new survey from Funambol, a cloud computing company, said that users expect to be able to utilize personal clouds on their mobile devices soon and most would be willing to pay for it...
The report, titled Personal Cloud Survey: Hype Vs. Reality, got responses from 232 people in 49 countries. Respondents said that as long as personal clouds, such as digital lockers, are secure, private and support the devices people own, they would be willing to use it. About 75 percent of users plan to utilize the personal cloud to store rich media and digital data, and 67 percent said they would be willing to pay about $5 for such services.
A popular use of the cloud is storing contacts, as 88 percent said they plan to use personal clouds for that purpose, 85 percent said they would store files, 80 percent said they would use their calendar in a personal cloud and 69 percent said they would store photos.
ReadWriteWeb said that mobile cloud computing appeals to a larger audience using smartphones and allows web developers to create apps for any mobile device. The website said that mobile cloud computing will have a large effect on the growth of cloud computing.
