Techworld Awards winners announced

Last night saw the hotly contested Techworld Awards take place in Dartmouth House in central London.
Sixteen worthy winners received their awards on the night, including SciVisum and Tesco, who were awarded for the best Cloud Product, the SciVisum iPhone Application Monitor. The product is an enterprise strength monitoring solution for iPhone apps.
As the award, the evening’s first, was presented, Techworld editor Mike Simons said the SciVisum product had been “highly rated” by the judges, because a “cloud based tool that monitors 24/7 mobile users’ experience of a website is the right technology for the right issue, right now”.
Other winners include EInk, a company which provides the core technology behind electronic paper. EInk was awarded best Startup/BlueSkies company.
Dell Compellent was given the Best Storage Product product award for Storage Center 5.4, a modular SAN that offers flexibility and scalability with a “no single point of failure” architecture. The judges said it had been “great to see the post merger enthusiasm of the Compellent crew and some of their customers”.
Veeam won best Virtualisation Product for the Backup & Replication v5 system, a management tool that enables organisations to backup, test and recover their virtual environments quickly.
A special ‘One to Watch’ award was presented to Opsview, the open source network, server and cloud management company for its Opsview Enterprise 3.12 tool.
In terms of specific projects that won awards, Warrington College was given the award to best Energy Efficiency Project, after judges said it had “really staked its all” on energy efficiency. The Isle of Man government won best virtualisation project as its data centre virtualisation made it “a test bed for progressive ICT”.
