Syncplicity announced a new release of its Syncplicity Business Edition that now offers full and seamless support for Google Docs™. With this latest release, Google Apps™ customers can now synchronize any desktop file such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat PDF, JPEG, ZIP, CAD and other files with Google Docs.
Syncplicity’s unique seamless synchronization means users can now have the choice to create and edit their files in their favorite application, such as grammar checking a file in Microsoft Word and then collaborating on that same file in Google Docs. In addition, through Syncplicity, users with files in Google Docs benefit from centralized management and backups, instantaneous synchronization across multiple computers, policy-controlled sharing and collaboration, and offline, anywhere access…
Syncplicity’s new release is made in conjunction with Google’s announcement today that its customers may now upload any file from their computers, store them in Google Docs, then use Google Docs to access these files anywhere
With Syncplicity Business Edition and Google Apps, users can sync, share, backup and manage all their file types using one seamless and easy-to-use solution. Unique to Syncplicity is a two-way sync capability, where its Business Edition service is continuously syncing files in the background in real-time between Google Docs and users’ desktops. This assures users that they are always up-to-date with a copy of the latest version of each file so there’s no need to go to a server to find or manually upload a file. Users no longer have to worry about confusion and wasted work due to having the wrong file or being offline and not having access to their files.
Through Syncplicity’s unique native Windows integration, users can open and edit their documents within existing desktop applications such as Microsoft Office, and then open and edit those same documents seamlessly within Google Docs. Existing files are uploaded, synced, versioned, and backed up into the cloud automatically, while also synced on all designated computers. This allows users to easily share and collaborate with others who may prefer to use Google Docs, Microsoft Office, or any other desktop application, while ensuring each user has access to the most current version of each file from anywhere.
Other Syncplicity Business Edition capabilities include:
- Automatic real-time backup and instant restore with versioning
- Policy and administrative controls for sharing and configuration per-user and per-company
- Centralized file management to enable a single administrative view of files across their company regardless of where the file is stored
- Support for any file type and any file size
- Unlimited scalability of users and storage
- Easy-to-use, policy-controllable collaboration and sharing
“As a company that embraces innovation and openness, we are constantly working with experts both internally and externally to create technology that makes it easier for our customers to live in the cloud,” said Matthew Glotzbach, Product Management Director, Google. “That’s why we are excited to work with Syncplicity to deliver enhanced sync, collaboration and file management capabilities that are easy-to-use and address real business needs.”
“Businesses want integrated solutions that take the pain out of file management, backup and sync, and need anywhere access to their information. They want to leverage their existing investments, applications, and files within new cloud-based computing solutions like Google Apps,” said Leonard Chung, co-founder and CEO of Syncplicity. “We’ve been working with Google closely to understand the needs of our more than 5,000 joint customers, who synchronize nearly 1 million documents a day, to see what they need to make file management, sync, backup and collaboration across all files and applications easier and more effective. With this new release, we are very pleased to deliver a powerful set of capabilities to our customers.”
