Helping its customers meet demands of business continuity and further capitalize on the power of cloud computing, StratITsphere Data Center Solutions today announced it has completed the expansion of its modern, functionally rich data center, located in Katy, Texas, 25 miles from downtown Houston. Online and available for secure data residency now, the additional 8,000-square feet of global cloud infrastructure is capable of supporting the most comprehensive portfolio of application services.
"The expansion our high available data center in the Houston market demonstrates our commitment to our growing customer base," said Darin Cook, President, StratITsphere Data Center Solutions. "With our fortified data center offering, we allow customers to have a 100 percent Service Level Agreement while at the same time, offering a flexible cost effective solution."…
Initial construction of the Houston area facility was completed in 2011, with "Pod B." StratITsphere continued to invest in the site, completing "Pod A," an 8,000square foot second phase with a dedicated suite model in 2013. A 1,700 square feet local business continuity office suite was also added in 2013, with current plans for future expansion or build-to-suit of up to 6,000 square feet. The current phase, designated "Pod C," was completed in late 2013 and quickly brought online.
Designed to be geographically secure, the StratITsphere data center is located outside of the 500-year floodplain with 36 inch raised floors, seven feet above the city’s elevation. The highly available facility also contains state-of-the-art security technology with badged gate entrances, biometric doors, bullet proof glass and armed security guards. A full-time security team is on staff 24x7x365, supported by video surveillance and video storage to physically protect the site at all times.
With the ability to expand up to 18 megawatts of power, three megawatts of power was added to the facility’s existing three megawatts to prevent outages or shorts. The data center is fed from the same substation as one of the local hospitals, putting it on the first responders list for outages and making it less vulnerable to brown-outs.
"Our latest data center expansion project is the result of an exhaustive quality assurance initiative where we cast aside legacy design methodologies and worked to develop a more modular, ‘customer flexible’ model," said Steve Guistwite, Chief Operating Officer, StratITsphere Data Center Solutions. "This expansion is more closely tied to the ever-changing needs of customers today, and through our new modular approach, allows our business to expand more predictably, and with drastically reduced lead times."
