The speaker lineup has been announced for the first ever OpenStack Days East event in New York City from August 23-24, which features case studies from Bloomberg, Comcast, eBay, EBSCO, NetApp, PayPal and Walmart talking about their OpenStack deployments.

OpenStack Days East is expected to draw some 600 attendees bringing IT professionals, developers and OpenStack supporters together to share case studies, trends, and plans for the world’s fastest-growing open source project. It gives those interested in learning more about the project opportunities to share experiences and talk directly with OpenStack community members.

From more than 100 session proposals, 35 were selected which demonstrate business applications of OpenStack, letting attendees learn more about the open source project from pioneering users. Speaker and session information can be viewed at www.openstackeast.com/schedule.

Featured guest Donna Scott, vice president and Distinguished Analyst at Gartner, will keynote the event speaking about the role public, private and hybrid cloud infrastructure like OpenStack has on digital business transformation.

Kicking off day two, Jonathan Bryce, executive director, OpenStack Foundation, will deliver his keynote on the state of "OpenStack Today". Complementing those are headline speakers from HPE, Red Hat, SUSE and Ubuntu.

"We, as an OpenStack community, have come a long way and I’m really looking forward to connecting with the many enterprises that are showing what is possible with OpenStack," said Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu, and a keynote speaker. "This event will be something special with a stellar lineup of speakers, and an expected 600 attendees at a really cool venue in the heart of New York City."

Other highlights among the sessions include a joint presentation from IBM and the OpenStack Foundation, "OpenStack by the Numbers," that will discuss the most recent user survey and explain the story behind the numbers to present a picture of where OpenStack stands today.

Online registration can be found at www.openstackeast.com/register. OpenStack Days East has drawn outstanding support from the OpenStack community with recently added sponsors that include IBM, Juniper Networks, NetApp, Platform9, Pure Storage, Stratoscale, Tintri, VMware and ZeroStack, which join 14 other sponsoring companies.

This community event is being guided by a steering committee that includes representatives from the east coast OpenStack User Groups and organized by Tesora, the leader in OpenStack Trove and a major contributor to OpenStack.
