Sonus Networks, Inc., a global leader in secure and intelligent Cloud communications, today introduced the Sonus SBC SWe Lite, a virtualized e-SBC designed for Skype for Business or Office 365 Cloud PBX deployments. The SBC SWe Lite supplements the Sonus SBC SWe, providing a virtual Customer Premise Equipment (vCPE) option for SMEs looking to virtualize interworking, security and survivability for Unified Communications (UC).

By leveraging the same management and provisioning interface as the Sonus SBC 1000 and SBC 2000, the SBC SWe Lite empowers enterprises to migrate from hardware to software without additional investments in new equipment. The SBC SWe Lite also gives customers the flexibility to deploy a virtual SBC solution on standard off-the-shelf servers or in virtualized environments. Enterprises with spare virtual machine resources available to host SBC functionality can significantly reduce the capital expenditures associated with deploying physical hardware on-premises in support of Skype for Business or Office 365 Cloud PBX.

Optimized for SMEs, the SBC SWe Lite allows rapid expansion or feature activation remotely via a simple license key, eliminating the need for on-site technicians or disruption to operations during peak business hours. With support for Microsoft Hyper-V and VMWare ESXi, the SBC SWe Lite can be installed quickly. The SBC SWe Lite also provides the same intuitive GUI as the SBC 1000 and SBC 2000 that was purpose built with ease of use in mind to dramatically speed configurations through the simple configuration wizard.

The SBC SWe Lite offers the same Miercom certified security as the award winning SBC 1000 and SBC 2000. Sonus’ newest virtualized solution also ensures maximum uptime and availability by securing mission critical traffic for VoIP, video, IM and online collaboration through capabilities such as network topology hiding, encryption, and protection from Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.

"The Sonus SBC SWe Lite offers the same great features and the simplified deployment of the Sonus SBC 1000 and SBC 2000, with the added benefits running the platform in a virtual environment. In fact, when using the Sonus SBC SWe Lite GUI it became immediately obvious that the experience was going to be exactly the same as the Sonus SBC 1000 or SBC 2000, with only minor differences in the hardware-related areas," said Anurag Patel, CEO, Techland Systems International Limited. "The GUI is incredibly intuitive and extremely easy to navigate, and in less than five minutes we were able to provision the SBC SWe Lite to allow successful setup and placing of calls to/from the system."

"After introducing the Sonus SBC SWe, we saw a real need for a complementary virtualized solution that focuses on small and medium sized enterprises," said Umar Kabir, manager, Product Management, Sonus. "The Sonus SBC SWe Lite provides that option for customers and is built on an industry proven, feature-rich code base. We believe that our customers, resellers and partners will find the robust security, proven interworking, leading scalability and unparalleled ease of use of the SBC 1000 and SBC 2000 in a compact and flexible virtual footprint truly revolutionary."
