Enterprise architects and IT managers will see software-as-a-service solutions become more popular over the next few years, it has been said.

Gene Leganza from Forrester spoke to ZDNet to suggest that software-as-a-service is one platform for data management that will be a standard in the industry in the near future, with rapid deployment a good idea for many businesses.

"IT execs must triage where they invest their resources as well adopt new application support practices for software-as-a-service, while completely re-evaluating capacity issues as well as architecture standards for applications developed or hosted in the cloud," the analyst went on to explain.

Mr Leganza also claimed that real-time access with pervasiveness, agility, and self-service will be combined in next generation business intelligence projects.

Robert Rutherford, managing director of QuoStar Solutions, recently said that using software-as-a-service offerings provided by a third party can help organisations make improvements in the area of business continuity, Fresh Business Thinking reported.
