Red Hat is acquiring eNovance, a European-based provider of "cloud" computing services, the Raleigh-based company announced Wednesday. The deal is worth nearly $100 million with Red Hat paying some $68 million in cash and another $27 million in stock for the privately held company.
The two companies have worked together on cloud projects over the past year. Both firms focus heavily on OpenStack solutions for clients seeking cloud-related services. Like Linux software, in which Red Hat is the global leader, OpenStack is based on open source solutions…
Cloud computing is a growing priority for Red Hat, which also announces quarterly earnings today.
"eNovance is a world-class cloud computing services provider with a proven track record of successful global deployments," said Arun Oberoi, executive vice president of Global Sales and Services at Red Hat, in a statement.
"eNovance’s deep OpenStack expertise, combined with Red Hat’s enterprise-class OpenStack offerings, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform and Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure, can be a game-changer as a growing number of global organizations turn to OpenStack for their cloud deployments."
eNovance was founded in 2008. Its headquarters is located in Paris.
