Private Cloud Succumbing to Public Cloud – A Chat with Cloud Tech Partners

This afternoon I had an interesting chat with two executives of startup Cloud Technology Partners, a consulting and software development firm founded by veterans of Cambridge Technology Partners, which was a big deal in Web and Internet development during the DotCom boom.
CTP, as the new outfit usually refers to itself, is consulting with large enterprises, including General Electric (GE), about how to develop software to run in cloud computing environments, including new projects and also conversion of older workloads. That includes both privately-built and run cloud data centers, and also public cloud data centers…
The company is funded by Oak Investment Partners and State Street Bank. The CIO of State Street is on the board. The total funding to date, after a $5 million Series-B round last summer, is less than $10 million, though the company won’t disclose the actual amount. It also won’t tell me at this time its total headcount, nor its current revenue run rate. However, executives John Treadway and Ben Grubin had plenty of interesting detail and anecdotes about use of cloud computing that should be of interest to anyone following this market…
