Oracle has released updates for the Solaris Cluster cloud computing platform and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software suite.

Solaris Cluster 4.0 allows enterprises and service providers to better implement and manage cloud computing platforms based on the Solaris 11 operating system, the firm said.

New features include improved support for installation of Solaris 11 on server hardware, and expanded support for third-party applications. Solaris Cluster 4.0 lets administrators apply patches and run disaster recovery tools without distance limits…

"Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.0 delivers unrivalled high availability on Oracle Solaris 11 for enterprise applications and databases, and offers comprehensive capabilities for keeping customers’ most demanding applications up and running in the face of nearly every conceivable situation," said Oracle Systems executive vice president John Fowler.

"Customers can now combine the additional critical high availability and disaster recovery features of Oracle Solaris Cluster with the new cloud-ready features of Oracle Solaris 11 to help simplify their infrastructure, significantly reduce planned and unplanned downtime and protect mission-critical applications in traditional and cloud deployments."

Meanwhile, customers running JD Edwards EnterpriseOne will be offered a new set of tools designed to help administrators manage applications.

EnterpriseOne Tools 9.1 includes a new interface and expanded administrator options, allowing users to view applications reports via a drop-down menu and support disaster recovery tools.

"The latest release of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools introduces a completely new interface, new IT administration functionality and simplified and enhanced reporting capabilities," said Oracle JD Edwards group vice president and general manager Lyle Ekdahl.

"The result is a dramatically improved user experience that, when combined with innovative new capabilities, makes it significantly easier to install, manage and upgrade JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications."
