On-Demand Cloud Computing Stats Revealed

On-demand cloud computing is estimated to create 3.8 million jobs and generate up to £197 billion to European Union CDP by 2020. This is according to research from the European Commission. A report published by ITProPortal says this displays just how important on-demand cloud computing is in addressing demands for agility and growth in business.
This cloud model allows organisations to access a pool of configurable resources, including servers, application and storage. It means businesses can access services in a flexible and pay-as-you-go manner, instead of purchasing hardware and licenses outright. The business benefits of using the cloud are multiple. Forty-one per cent cited higher productivity. Thirty-five per cent said it meant increased use of standard processes. Opening up to new locations and better ability to enter new business areas were also given as pros. There are several on-demand cloud services available to businesses, including:
-SaaS – software-as-a-service
-PaaS – platform-as-a-service
-IaaS – infrastructure-as-a-service
In undertaking the research, the European Commission questioned almost 500 companies – more than eighty per cent of these witnessed a reduction in IT costs of ten to twenty per cent when using the cloud.
