ODCA Delivers 2.0 Usage Models For Service Orchestration And Compute IaaS
March 3, 2014Grazed from ODCA. Author: PR Announcement.
Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA) today announced it has published 2.0 versions of cloud deployment usage models in the areas of service orchestration and Compute Infrastructure as a Service (CIaaS). The alliance has also updated its conceptual model document map, which provides an overview of the organization’s usage models, particularly how they fit into a larger cloud computing and next generation data center context.
The documents that have been updated include:
* Open Data Center Alliance Master Usage Model: Service Orchestration Rev. 2.0-describes the processes, interfaces and aspects to be considered when deploying services on cloud platforms. This usage model includes 19 usage scenarios of a cloud service engagement as well as the foundation for the next phase of usage development including bursting between clouds and other areas that include Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). The Service Orchestration Rev. 2.0 usage model is available for free download on the ODCA website…
* Open Data Center Alliance Master Usage Model: Compute Infrastructure as a Service (CIaaS) Rev. 2.0-defines all of the key elements of a Compute Infrastructure as a Service (CIaaS), how to use this service model, and what to consider in its adoption. ODCA has integrated critical security requirements into this 2.0 publication, increasing the value of this master usage model and paving the way for rapid deployment by enterprises. The Compute Infrastructure as a Service Rev 2.0 usage model is available for free download on the ODCA website.
* Open Center Data Alliance: Conceptual Model of Usage Models and Document Map Rev. 2.0-provides a high-level overview of the ODCA cloud deployment strategy and describes how each usage model fits within this larger framework. The Conceptual Model of Usage Models and Document Map Rev. 2.0 is available for free download on the ODCA website.
ODCA usage models further the alliance’s vision of a simpler, more secure, more efficient path to cloud computing by documenting the most pressing challenges and needed solutions for cloud deployment. Each usage model describes the specific technology and service requirements for deploying a different cloud computing scenario. It also identifies where open standards need to be met.
The ODCA, which began publishing usage models in 2011, has released 27 usage models spanning eight categories: infrastructure, security, commercial, carbon, compliance, management and services, data and portability. This newest round of usage models has been updated to incorporate recent security improvements and other cloud computing advances. They are intended for a variety of audiences including business leaders, IT administrators, cloud service providers, and standards organizations.
All of the ODCA’s usage models are available for free download at http://www.opendatacenteralliance.org/ourwork/usagemodels.
Tomorrow (March 4th) Ryan Skipp of T-Systems and Stephanie Woolson of Lockheed Martin will be presenting a webcast that discusses content from the document, “ODCA Master Usage Model: Service Orchestration.” The session illustrates the usage model for service discovery and orchestration for cloud services.
