Neverware, the New York-based developer of lightweight desktop operating systems built to optimize security and manageability, announced today the release and general availability of CloudReady: Office 365 Education Edition, a new solution developed in partnership with Microsoft that features a native integration between Neverware’s CloudReady operating system and the Office 365 suite.

When installed on an organization’s devices, CloudReady: Office 365 Education Edition transforms existing hardware into fast, secure, and easily manageable machines that provide out-of-the-box, seamless integration with Microsoft OneDrive and online versions of commonly used productivity apps such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, and more. CloudReady’s lightweight, browser-based design is certified to run on over 200 of the most common laptops and desktops used in education over the last decade, so schools can extend the shelf life of their existing devices to revitalize computer labs and pursue one-to-one computing initiatives.

Neverware introduced the innovative CloudReady operating system to the market in 2015, enabling school districts to transform older PCs and Macs and manage them alongside Chromebooks. The company will continue to offer that version of CloudReady, which integrates natively with Google’s G Suite for Education apps and the cloud-based Google Admin console.

"Neverware’s founding mission was to bring world-class technology to the students and teachers who need it most," said Andrew Bauer, CEO of Neverware. "Through our partnership with Microsoft, we’re proud to be able to offer our customers access to the best of both worlds: the speed, security, and manageability of CloudReady along with the productivity and collaboration they love in Office 365."

"We’re excited to work with our friends at Neverware on this partnership," said Anthony Salcito, Vice President of Worldwide Education at Microsoft. "We believe every student will be better prepared for success in the workplace if they have easy, seamless access to Office 365."

The announcement represents a continuation of Neverware’s forward product momentum in 2017. Last month, the company announced the release of a version of its CloudReady platform for companies using virtual desktop infrastructure. CloudReady: VDI Edition effectively turns various endpoint devices into reliable and secure thin clients through its innovative architecture, which combines a universal operating system and device management.

In addition to the VDI Edition and the new Office 365 Education Edition, the CloudReady operating system family includes Enterprise, Education, and Home Editions.

CloudReady: Office 365 Education Edition is available immediately with pricing starting at just $1 per student annually, which includes professional support.
