Mellanox Technologies Selects Univa to Extend Silicon Design HPC Cluster to Hybrid Cloud
May 8, 2018Univa, a leading innovator in on-premise and hybrid cloud workload management solutions for enterprise HPC customers, today announced that Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. selected Univa’s solution, mainly Navops Launch, to extend its on-premise EDA cluster to the cloud, providing Mellanox with cost-effective, on-demand capacity.
Mellanox is a leading supplier of end-to-end Ethernet and InfiniBand intelligent interconnect solutions for servers, storage and hyper-converged infrastructure. Given that Fortune 500 data centers and half of the world’s top 500 fastest supercomputers employ Mellanox products in their operations, the company understands the value of smart innovation and operational efficiency. Thus, Mellanox was seeking a solution from a trusted partner that would bridge their current cluster management software to a future with a robust scheduler, while leveraging hybrid cloud.
"Mellanox Technologies provides high-performance solutions to a range of customers looking to innovate with intelligent, interconnected solutions for servers, storage and hyper-converged infrastructure," said Doron Sayag, IT enterprise computing services senior manager at Mellanox Technologies. "Integrating an enterprise-grade cluster management tool like Navops Launch into our own on-premise data center allowed us to better address peak performance needs with seamless bursting of our HPC cluster to the cloud during tape-outs. By operating more efficiently, we get to provide our customers with exceptional products for years to come."
Navops Launch enabled Mellanox to increase the efficiency of its on-premise data center usage while addressing unmet peak performance needs with a cloud bursting "pay-as-you-go" scenario, giving users the ability to simultaneously run as many jobs as required. As engineers routinely scale workloads beyond the local infrastructure, their productivity has been enhanced significantly. Additionally, by intelligently leveraging the cloud during peak usage periods, the team has reduced time-to-market and gained capacity without the need for additional infrastructure – all while reining in costs with a reliable enterprise-grade solution.
"We have witnessed a combination of high-level customer service responsiveness and continuous innovation that has fueled Mellanox’s tremendous growth for the past two decades," said Gary Tyreman, president and CEO Univa. "Therefore, they understand the importance of remaining focused on the complex development processes that drives its next generation of products. Univa appreciates working with Mellanox to give them the ability to leverage the latest hybrid-cloud technologies through a reliable and cost-effect enterprise-grade solution that will give them the ability to grow and respond quickly to its customers changing needs."
