Master data management programmes ‘contribute to business success’
March 9, 2011Companies which have master data management strategies in place can expect to be more successful in how their business operates and ensuring their records are accurate.
This is according to a new study from the Aberdeen Group, which found organisations that performed best in the field of master data management avoided problems with inaccurate information affecting their business decisions.
They also had higher product sales than less well-organised competitors.
Nathaniel Rowe, a research analyst at Aberdeen Group, said: "Having a formal master data management programme was perhaps the single largest contributor to success."
He noted 94 per cent of the best-performing companies it examined either had such a scheme or were in the process of implementing one.
One organisation to benefit recently from master data management work is the Travel Corporation, which has made efforts to improve how customer information is looked after across its numerous brands, reported the Computing website.
