Improved efficiency and opportunities for analysis are just two of the reasons why a company might benefit from master data management, according to one expert.

Madan Sheina, lead analyst at Ovum, explained how a strategy might take some time and effort to introduce, but the rewards include more control over an enterprise’s operations, the Computing website reports.

The expert points out that some decision makers might not understand exactly what is required from data management tools, but the chance to deduplicate and remove old information is not one to be missed.

Mr Sheina recommends explaining the benefits of consistent information and how this translates into opportunities for growth as the best way to consider why data management is essential.

Meanwhile, a report from IT analyst Gartner has suggested almost all businesses could benefit from data management processes, particularly where two companies must make use of the same records for their operations.
