Cloud computing is a style of computing that fosters new relationships between those who provide solutions through technology and those who consume them. It is a phenomenon that continues to evolve, but there remain unanswered questions about which cloud options are most appropriate for use and when. Cloud computing research explores best practices and emerging trends for developing strategies that take advantage of new capabilities provided by the cloud.
Logicalis (News – Alert), an international IT solutions provider with knowledge and expertise in communications and collaboration, data center and cloud provisioning, has announced private Cloud Foundry instances via the Logicalis Enterprise Cloud…
VMware technologies have played a major part in worldwide cloud implementations by Logicalis in the past. Many companies already use technologies such as VMware vCenter™ and VMware vCloud™ Director in their own ways. They are also frequently updating their existing enterprise applications to take advantage of the many benefits a cloud platform provides, such as capacity, scalability and redundancy.
“VMware technologies have been at the core of Logicalis’ development framework for years,” according to Brian Day, Logicalis’ director of Cloud Solutions. “They have significantly accelerated our development efforts, decreasing the time to value for our customers, enabling Logicalis to help our clients build applications faster, scale applications better and do it all in a less expensive and more open manner.”
What sets cloud computing apart from traditional outsourcing and hosting approaches is the focus on outcomes and the consumption model. Behind the scenes, providers use particular design models, architectures, technologies and best practices to support the delivery of an elastically scalable, service-oriented environment. Certain approaches lower costs and provide greater flexibility, and can apply what has been learned to internal systems, as well as to leverage external systems (private and public clouds) in the process.
To that end, the Logicalis Group employs over 2,500 people worldwide, including highly trained service specialists who design, specify, deploy and manage complex ICT infrastructures to meet the needs of over 6,000 corporate and public sector customers.
