Linux Labs’ NimbusOS Upgraded for Use as OS for Cloud Computing Service

Searchlight Solutions Ltd. announced that its subsidiary Linux Labs International Inc. has upgraded its proprietary NimbusOS for use as the Operating System for its High Performance Cloud Computing (“HPC2”) service.

According to company sources the Linux Labs NimbusOS was developed to be compatible and configurable with all HPC applications.

It was also revealed that this recently finalized upgrade is expected to serve as a precursor for the formal launch of the Company’s HPC2 Service. The modified NimbusOS will run the servers, using which customers can run their HPC applications.

Company sources said in a release, “We are pleased with the recent completion of our NimbusOS upgrade. We look forward to achieving more milestones as we move towards an official launch of our HPC2 Services. The cloud computing market has a bright future and we feel we are on our way to being well positioned to take advantage of the opportunity.”

Cloud computing is a new delivery model although not a new technology. However the growth scenario envisioned for cloud computing applications is vast according to research analysts.

AMI Partners forecasts that the U.S. spending on all cloud services will be $49 billion by 2015 considering SMB organizations only. Gartner (News Alert), another analyst firm and IDC foresee that cloud computing will be a big phenomenon.

All research analysts feel that nearly every Fortune 500 company will have at least one business-critical application “in the cloud” by 2015.
