Kognitio and Xtremeinsights are the latest companies partnering to tackle the challenge of Big Data management in the cloud with Hadoop. The two companies plan to integrate their respective offerings to help customers gain greater insights from Big Data.

Kognitio is a PaaS cloud computing player that is trying to drive the convergence of Big Data and cloud computing. Working with a network of channel partners, the company’s key technology in the cloud is the Kognitio Cloud platform, which provides in-memory analytics of business data. Xtremeinsights fills a similar role in the market with Hadoop-based approach to providing professional services for advanced analytics with Big Data…

As a growing opportunity for the channel as Big Data continues to permeate the IT environment and make data management even trickier than before, more vendors and solutions providers are turning to Hadoop to help solve the problem. Fort instance, Cloudera and HP just signed a strategic partnership to develop solutions to simplify Big Data management.

Industry insiders look at Hadoop as a huge channel opportunity. According to Matt Aslett, industry analyst at 451 Research, who was quoted in the Kognitio/Xtremeinsights announcement, there is “increased interest from enterprises in products that enable them to balance the adoption of new technologies such as Hadoop with investment in existing analysis techniques and skills.” If the technologies can help maximize investments in SQL analysis skills and tools, so much the better.

Aslett went on to say that the alliance between Kognitio and Xtremeinsights “will encourage greater adoption of Hadoop by mainstream businesses.” The data analysis the two companies will be able to provide jointly will help their mutual customers gain even greater business intelligence, he noted.

“They understand that Kognitio is the perfect companion to Hadoop that enables clients to achieve their objectives,” said Michael Hiskey, vice president of marketing and business development at Kognitio, in a prepared statement, of Xtremeinsights.

Jai Malhotra, Xtremeinsights’ co-founder, had this to say of his new strategic partner: “This the kind of solution enables our clients to leverage the power and scale of Hadoop with the agility of an in-memory database, and we are pleased to be able to offer it to them.”
