Fujitsu today announces the availability in Australia of Fujitsu Cloud for SAP® Solutions, an enterprise-grade managed cloud offering for running all production workloads in SAP software. The new cloud service leverages Fujitsu’s proven IP for the optimal management of systems running SAP software, and is offered via Fujitsu Australia’s Private Hosted Cloud Platform hosted on its secure, highly available local data centres.

Fujitsu Cloud for SAP Solutions offers support for the leading databases for SAP including Oracle, DB2, SAP MaxDB®, SAP Adaptive Server® Enterprise, SAP IQ and SAP HANA®. The customer is able to scale cloud capacity to address spikes in business demand, and will receive monthly subscription fees on a pay-for-use basis…

The cloud service offering is unique in that it is delivered “end-to-end” by Fujitsu. The platform leverages the breadth of Fujitsu’s capability including data centres, managed services, hardware and SAP application support. Fujitsu Cloud for SAP Solutions is built upon Fujitsu’s own IP – Fujitsu FlexFrame Orchestrator, a powerful management solution with built-in “smarts” to dynamically manage and automate the full SAP software environment across servers, OS, virtualisation, storage and network resources.

Fujitsu Cloud for SAP Solutions provides a unified framework for classic workloads as well as those running on SAP HANA; a single, consistent management platform delivers 24/7 service-level agreements for uptime and application performance reporting. The offering provides flexibility in licensing by allowing customers to retain their own SAP licenses or to purchase additional licenses from Fujitsu.

Mike Foster, CEO of Fujitsu Australia & New Zealand, said: “We have invested in a cloud-based platform that leverages our extensive capability in SAP solutions, as well as our cloud and data centre infrastructure, to provide an offering that makes great business sense for organisations already committed to SAP. This is a great opportunity for our customers to maximise the returns from their existing investments in SAP solutions, while taking advantage of the ability to replace the need for expensive hardware with a predictable monthly subscription fee.”

Mayur Sahni, senior research manager, IT Services and Cloud at IDC Asia/Pacific, said: “On key workloads and business processes that run on platforms such as those from SAP, customers will need to have significant confidence in their cloud partners’ capabilities to deliver on promises of benefits from the cloud. Hence there will be a marked preference in Australian businesses to partner with service providers that have end-to-end services capabilities for on-premise and on-cloud computing across all SAP solutions.”

Australia is the third country in which Fujitsu has launched this multi-tenant cloud service based on Fujitsu FlexFrame Orchestrator, purpose-built for SAP solutions. Australian organisations will have the added confidence that the platform has been running in Europe and Asia with positive results.
