Foxconn & HP Strike Deal to Build ProLiant Cloud Servers

"The changing needs of cloud computing require a new approach to server design that brings together cloud solutions expertise, quick customer response and volume manufacturing," HP states in it’s press release. "Creating innovative servers and solutions has been a cornerstone of the relationship between Foxconn and HP for several decades and today’s announcement further strengthens the partnership."

HP President and CEO Meg Whitman said that the partnership reflects innovation in the company’s server business model through combining the compute and service leadership of HP with the high-volume design and manufacturing expertise of Foxconn. This combination will enable both parties to "deliver a game-changing offering in infrastructure economics."…

Terry Gou, founder and chairman of Foxconn, said that the development of cloud computing has "radically" changed the global server supply chain. Thanks to the partnership with HP, both parties are embracing this new opportunity to "change the industry, capture growth in this emerging market, and deliver end-to-end value as we expand our global leadership in design and manufacturing."…
