Access to the EXASolution high-performance database is now even more flexible via hosting and housing
Nuremberg, Germany, June 1st, 2011 – EXASOL AG is expanding its service portfolio to include EXACloud, thereby making its EXASolution high-performance database also available as software as a service. The specialist for database management systems provides the hardware and software from their Nuremberg offices. Users access the high-performance database directly using BI (business intelligence) and ETL (extract, transform and load) tools. This resource-saving access to EXASolution makes it possible for EXACloud customers to manage their data with a particularly high degree of efficiency while continuing to reduce their total cost of ownership.

As a cost-efficient update to a client’s own IT infrastructure, EXACloud can be used from any location in the world, either via the Internet or the company’s own internal, secured intranet. Companies that opt to use EXACloud as the foundation for their data warehouse and business intelligence (BI) solutions will have state-of-the-art technology at their disposal without having to invest in upgrades to their own IT infrastructure. EXACloud is available as both a hosting and housing version. This service is used as needed and can be easily dimensioned at any time to meet a company’s specific requirements. The EXACloud’s pricing model is based on the data volume to be processed and the number of servers being used. There are plans to expand the EXASOL portfolio to include business intelligence as a service, which will involve the use of BI and ETL tools of partners.
“EXACloud is a further step on the path to growth we’ve undertaken. It unites the advantages of cloud computing with the high performance of our ‘made in Germany’ technology,” says Steffen Weissbarth, CEO of EXASOL AG. “By diversifying our portfolio, we have ensured that EXASOL customers will have access to additional services that can be tailored precisely to their requirements, that facilitate even more efficient data analysis and generate significant competitive advantages.”
The service includes a multi-level security concept, as well as a detailed user and access rights concept to ensure that only the user has access to their specific data. The data processing centres EXASOL used are certified according to ISO/IEC 27001:2005, audited as ‘bank secure’ pursuant to BaFin 44 (German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority), KWG § 25 (German Federal Banking Act) and the eco Datacenter Star Audit (highest mark: 5 stars). The data centres have also been designed with greater security needs in mind pursuant to the stipulations in the baseline protection manual produced by the BSI (German Federal Office for Information Security). Operational reliability is ensured by means of large memory reserves and technology that is constantly modernised. The expert behind EXACloud is EXASOL Cloud Computing GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of EXASOL AG, headquarted in Nuremberg.

The EXASolution database is based on in-memory technology and makes it possible to ana-lyse and evaluate even extremely large data volumes within a very short space of time. Thanks to its capacity for high performance and its low administrative expenditures, EXASolu-tion supports companies in their efforts to gain valuable insights for their decision-making processes from their data. As recently as April of this year, EXASOL AG received the 2011 ‘Cool Vendor’ award from Gartner in the category of Data Management and Integration.
