Enpass now offers passkey syncing across all platforms – via users’ own cloud accounts

Enpass announced the completion of its syncing-passkeys project: With today’s release of Enpass 6.9.2 for desktop, users can now create and sync passkeys across all devices on Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS 17, and Android 14.

While most other password managers keep all user data on their own central servers (a valid security concern for many people), Enpass empowers users to choose how and where their encrypted passwords and passkeys are stored and synced. Enpass can sync with iCloud, Google Drive, OneDrive (Personal or Business), Dropbox, Box, NextCloud, WebDAV, or locally via Wi-Fi.

This uniquely powerful security measure means that, in addition to the simplicity and unhackability of passkeys, Enpass protects passkeys (and passwords) with several additional layers of protection. To access an Enpass user’s data, a hacker would have to:

• Target the user personally (not some central server)
• AND know which cloud services they’ve chosen for your vaults
• AND know the credentials to those cloud accounts
• AND get past each cloud account’s multi-factor authentication
• AND also know their Enpass master password

In celebrating this passage into the passwordless future, Enpass CEO Hemant Kumar said, “We know this transition to passkeys comes with a bit of a learning curve. Many people aren’t yet clear on how they work, why they’re more secure than passwords, or why the ability to sync is important. Because Enpass users can use face or fingerprint authentication to authorize a passkey login, as passkeys gradually replace passwords, account security will become nearly effortless from a user point-of-view.
