Elastifile Cloud File Service Adds Enhanced Automation with Terraform Provider Plugin and CSI Support for Kubernetes
June 26, 2019Elastifile, the pioneer of enterprise-grade, scalable file storage for the public cloud, announced the release of a provider plugin for HashiCorp Terraform supporting Elastifile Cloud File Service, the company’s fully-managed file storage service on Google Cloud. The availability of the Terraform provider simplifies infrastructure-as-code (IaC) automation, enabling highly efficient, programmatic control over Elastifile’s cloud-native NAS solution. In addition, Elastifile announced that Elastifile Cloud File Service now supports the Container Storage Interface (CSI) specification, enabling seamless, automated integration with Kubernetes deployments.
The accelerating pace of enterprise cloud adoption, when coupled with the flexibility offered by elastic cloud resources, necessitates simplified IT management and enhanced automation. As a result, provisioning and managing cloud resources via infrastructure-as-code with Terraform has become an increasingly popular way to deliver flexible, adaptable cloud integration. Terraform provider plugins further simplify resource automation by describing the characteristics and capabilities of specific resource types and providing a predefined mechanism for interacting with those resource types. Elastifile’s Terraform provider facilitates turnkey control over the features and functionality offered by Elastifile Cloud File Service. Complementing the enhancement for Terraform-based orchestration, Elastifile Cloud File Service now also offers enhanced Kubernetes-based orchestration, via support for Elastifile’s Container Storage Interface (CSI) driver. Via CSI, Elastifile file storage resources can be dynamically deployed, managed, and scaled by popular container orchestration platforms, such as Kubernetes. Leveraging this new capability, containerized workflows on Google Cloud can leverage end-to-end automation, while benefiting from the advantages of scalable, persistent, enterprise ‘file-storage’-as-a-service. In addition, CSI support also simplifies integration with popular application platforms, such as Google Cloud’s Anthos and Red Hat OpenShift.
“Automated resource management is a crucial requirement for cloud-integrated enterprise workflows,” said Dr. Allon Cohen, Vice President of Business Development and Cloud Solutions at Elastifile. “By augmenting our service with enhanced Terraform and container integration, we’re simplifying cloud adoption by making storage automation easier than ever before.”
