Companies in New Zealand may have found it difficult to implement the changes in tax legislation that were introduced in October last year, so one publication has suggested outsourced data management could help smooth the transition.

NZ Business magazine has considered the options for organisations struggling with vast amounts of payroll data and has stated that software updates and new resources could be the answer.

David Jenkins, chief executive officer of the New Zealand Payroll Practitioners Association, said companies with workers affected by new holidays, parental leave and Kiwisaver changes could benefit from the instantly-updated practices supplied by data management software.

"Functionality aids the business owner and the payroll person, so that what they see in front of them on screen is correct, they pay people on time and pay them correctly," he explained.

What’s more, the sheer volume of information gathered by organisations could prove another reason why they might consider data management facilities.

Research from the CommVault IT Storage Spending Survey revealed 80 per cent of those asked plan to maintain or increase IT budgets to cope this year.
