Racemi, a provider of server imaging technology to automate data center operations and facilitate migrations to cloud computing, has announced that it has hired a new vice president of engineering.

Scott Mewett brings nearly 20 years of experience in software development, which includes more than a decade of experience in the design, implementation and management of enterprise class software and services…

Previously a director of engineering at Symantec, he led development efforts for a management application framework deployed at thousands of businesses worldwide and supported by 30 Symantec and other enterprise management software products. Before that, Mewett worked at Altiris, which was acquired by Symantec. He has extensive background in computer systems security, including three years at IBM, and holds multiple U.S. patents relating to network and computer security.

"Scott’s background and strong credentials are a perfect fit to lead Racemi development efforts in our next phase of providing our DynaCenter software for migrating and moving server workloads in cloud computing," said Lawrence Guillory, CEO, of Racemi.

Mewett has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Computer Systems) from the University of Queensland, Australia and a Bachelor of Information Technology from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

Racemi’s easy-to-integrate OEM automation technology migrates server images in the datacenter, as well as to cloud computing resources like Amazon, Rackspace and Terremark. It does this regardless of the underlying operating system, application software, configuration, or even the physical, virtual, or cloud infrastructure. Racemi has been named a "Cool Vendor" and has received other industry awards.
