The Cloud Council of 7 (CCO7), a non-profit association of business users, policy makers, technology and service providers, and academics working with Cloud technology, today announced it has launched operations. The organization, formed to benefit users of Cloud technology, is open to IT executives, enterprise end-users, and technology and service providers of Cloud technologies, services and products.

"Many experts say Cloud computing is the number one priority for CIOs, yet few CIOs can link current definitions of Cloud computing’s with business value. To help eliminate this confusion, the Cloud Council of 7 was created," said Carole Gunst, Executive Director, Cloud Council of 7. "Our diverse community is collaborating to drive consensus to help enterprises make informed decisions when specifying and selecting Cloud technologies and services. All discoveries and recommendations are shared with the CCO7 community."…

CCO7 founding members have defined seven characteristics of Cloud technology: dynamic scalability, financial efficiency, holistic security and management, solution adaptability, multi-tenancy, accessibility and sustainability. The definitions, which expand upon Cloud definitions promulgated by Gartner and NIST, add business value descriptions to guide CIOs, CTOs, technology vendors and senior IT executives in the specification, development and deployment of Cloud computing technologies and services.

Membership in CCO7 is available at the Founding, Corporate and Individual Member levels. The CCO7 currently has members drawn from leading enterprise IT, financial services and health care organizations in the US and UK.

The organization will host the 2012 Cloud Computing Summit, an invitation-only conference to be held in three consecutive two-day sessions April 3-8, 2012 in Augusta, Georgia.
