Cloud Computing: Huawei to boost network function virtualization

During a seminar held in conjunction with Mobile World Congress 2014, Huawei has announced its vision of an open, cloud-based communications network. The attendees gained knowledge on how to bring advancements in cloud technologies into communication networks to boost resource sharing and efficiency.

Highlighting the possibilities of this transformation, Huawei and Telefonica signed an MOU on advancing the UNICA infrastructure architecture, software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV). Xu Zhijun, rotating CEO of Huawei, emphasized that, "Just like IP technologies did before, cloud computing is changing the landscape of telecom. We can see that the future network infrastructure will be data center-centric, software defined, virtualized, open cloud-based and ICT-converged.
