Cloud application developer CloudBees (www.cloudbees.com) announced on Tuesday it has named former Oracle senior vice president Steven Harris the company’s senior vice president of products.

In his new role, Harris will oversee all product strategy, product management and product development activities…

Harris has 13 years of Java expertise, and is regularly called upon to speak at industry conferences around the world about his insights on the future of Java.

He has a wide background in engineering, product management, and business development primarily focused on enterprise software development.

Prior to joining CloudBees, he managed Oracle’s Java server development team as senior vice president of server technologies.

Harris joined Oracle in 1997 to manage development of the Java virtual machine for the Oracle8i release, with his role soon expanding to include the entire Java platform, including Enterprise Edition technologies in the Oracle Application Server, WebLogic, and GlassFish product lines.

"The addition of Steve Harris to our leadership team is a huge win for CloudBees and the PaaS market. His industry stature validates everything that CloudBees has accomplished to date and brings a level of expertise that will drive our growth to the next level in the vibrant and rapidly growing PaaS market," said Sacha Labourey, CEO and founder at CloudBees. "Steve strikes that unique balance of understanding the needs of both developers and the enterprise. With a deep understanding of each audience, he intuitively grasps how business models like the cloud and PaaS can impact and drive developer-productivity and enterprise success."

CloudBees is a cloud computing company that focuses on servicing the complete Java application lifecycle for cloud development and deployment, all without any servers, virtual machines or IT staff.

The CloudBees platform includes DEV@cloud, a service that lets developers take their build and test environments to the cloud, and RUN@cloud, which lets teams seamlessly deploy applications to production in the cloud.
