Cloud Computing: CoSentry and Data Media Solutions Collaborate to Provide Clients Low-Cost System Backup & Archive Advantage
April 23, 2012CoSentry, the region’s leading provider of cloud computing services and Data Media Solutions (DMS), the area’s most experienced storage media consultant, have announced the commercial launch of a new CoSentry Backup Cloud services for low-cost backup and archive applications. The collaboration required extensive research of existing technologies and the development of unique interfaces to design a set of solutions that meet the growing demand for large data backup resources at reasonable costs for the commercial mid-market.
“We challenged the manufacturer’s and developers to draw outside the lines, to deliver a solution that would grow exponentially while acknowledging the continuous drop in storage medium pricing,” commented Louie Sabarini, Sr. Solution Architect for CoSentry. He added, “The elasticity of price as well as the flexibility of architecture required us to engage in collaboration between disparate technologies providers to achieve a best of breed concept, it’s very cool.”…
The new service is now available and clients have activated 100’s of terabytes. The service allows the migration of large data sets that do not require on-demand retrieval to be digitally archived in a lower cost medium. The efficiency of the system is in the front-end software integration that allows the data to be stored and mined in the most effective manner appropriate for the service level. It allows an organization to warehouse the data securely for long intervals, but allows the retrieval of individual elements as required.
“Sounds complex, but it is actually a very simple design,” related Kristy Wilke, Vice President-Client Relations for DMS. She continued, “CoSentry has always had a close relationship with their clients, so we had the advantage of designing this solution with specific end user requirements in mind, which is a significant advantage.”
CoSentry indicated that DMS was selected to help them build the solution because of their long experience in the industry and their willingness to explore options from multiple vendors. “Clients expect a managed services provider to be agnostic and take the lead in best practices, finding partners willing to start with a clean slate has become unique. That’s why we appreciate the DMS team,” stated Manny Quevedo, CoSentry’s Vice President of Development.
CoSentry indicated this is the first of several new cloud initiatives due for release in 2Q2012.
