Science Applications International Corp. launched today Cloud Migration Edge, a multi-tiered methodology that migrates and transforms customers’ current IT applications and systems to a cloud environment securely and effectively. As a cloud services integrator, SAIC teams with the best cloud technology providers to engineer solutions that meet customers’ individual needs.

Cloud Migration Edge is a holistic, five-step approach that encompasses specialized tools, processes, and best practices to guide the cloud migration life cycle and provide ongoing improvement. This formalized framework supports the step-by-step implementation of a mission-centric cloud computing environment by breaking down the cloud migration process into standardized components at each layer of the IT service life cycle.

According to Spiceworks’ study Diving into IT Cloud Services, only 25 percent of IT professionals believe cloud services are more cost effective than on-premises infrastructure, potentially due to a lack of visibility in how their cloud services are being utilized and the impact on monthly costs. Cloud Cost Monitor is designed to help IT professionals overcome the challenges of keeping their IaaS costs under control by enabling them to track how their usage and costs are trending over time.

"Enterprises are continuing to adopt a public cloud strategy, however adoption has yet to reach its potential, given the complexity and risk of data loss or downtime during the actual workload migration period," said Terri McClure, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. "By decoupling the storage from compute and allowing these components to migrate independently, while maintaining performance and availability, Velostrata is taking out a lot of the complexity and risk, enabling enterprises to make that leap to the cloud quickly and simply."

SolarWinds, a leading provider of powerful and affordable IT management software, today announced significant updates to its SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA). With the enhancements, SolarWinds DPA is the only tool available on the market capable of providing Multi-Dimensional Performance Analysis to improve Software as a Service (SaaS) application performance for MySQL- and Linux-only IT organizations, helping them reduce costs and improve overall organizational effectiveness.

Specifically, SolarWinds DPA now supports MySQL database repositories, enabling SaaS companies  running MySQL- and Linux-only infrastructure whether on-premises or in the cloud to fully leverage the award-winning tool, whereas a Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle repository were required previously.

Additional significant new features in the latest release of SolarWinds DPA include visualization and analysis to help DBAs optimize for and resolve blocking, locking and deadlock issues, and support for Microsoft SQL Server 2016.

Today Particle, the most widely-used Internet of Things platform, announced Particle Cloud, its enterprise IoT platform, already being used by Fortune 500 companies to ship secure, reliable, and easy-to-use IoT products in as little as six months.

"The Internet of Things is a new industry with huge potential. However, the unfortunate reality is that many businesses’ IoT initiatives flounder or fail," said Zach Supalla, Particle co-founder and CEO. "The strongest business case for building an IoT product is irrelevant if you can’t execute. Companies who work with Particle actually ship their products."

Netwrix Corporation, the first to introduce a visibility and governance platform that supports both on-premises and hybrid cloud IT environments, today announced its results for Q2 2016, which demonstrate remarkable 121% enterprise sales growth compared to Q2 2015. Netwrix reported significant growth rates across both the U.S. and Europe, boosted by the release of Netwrix Auditor 8.0, a visibility and governance platform that enables control over changes, configurations and access in hybrid cloud IT environments to protect data at rest regardless of its location.

Market Momentum

"Today’s IT infrastructures are becoming more complex than ever before. Large volumes of data, as well as growing interest in cloud adoption, are stimulating the demand for solutions to secure critical information and mitigate cyber risks," said Michael Fimin, CEO and co-founder of Netwrix. "We are happy to offer an innovative product that delivers visibility across hybrid cloud IT environments and empowers companies to address major security challenges, such as investigation of anomalous user behavior to detect insider threats and prevent data loss."

A key element of this collaboration is the delivery of all the critical components needed to conduct a cloud migration project. The comprehensive approach afforded through this partnership provides customers with a full picture of their current landscape and a roadmap of how to complete the migration. The three-phased, bundled services approach includes discovery and design; target preparation; and assisted server migration.

Salesforce has again decided to splash the cash in order to boost its portfolio this time with the acquisition of productivity software maker Quip. The deal, which will be for $582 million in stock, will add to Salesforce’s portfolio a number of programs for creating documents and spreadsheets.
